Scholarship Recommendations from PAG

Aim: To establish the best use of Scholarship money in attracting top students to our College.
Ideas:
Focus on key students from Contributing schools and ask them to apply. These students will bring others with them. Discussions have occurred with principals about key students/parents to approach.
Contact students from Contributing schools with a letter and details about Open day 2012.
Offer scholarships for top Sporting, Academic and Cultural students including the three scholarships that already exist. These should include students from the Contributing school plus others.
How much?
Proposal 1 # 5 at $2000.
Proposal 2 # 10 at $1000
Proposal 3 # 20 at $500
The majority of the group is in favour of Proposal 2.

Future Suggestions
That a sporting academy at year 10 be established as part of a PE class. That students matching a criteria ( Hard working, Talented.) apply and receive some sort of scholarship ($500-$200).

FEEDBACK

The Board Finance Committee aslo had some thoughts on Future Scholarships.
1)They suggested that they not just be for Year 9 but continue on. Provided that the student meets a certain criteria.
2) That may mean we reduce the number of scholarhips offered to year 9 or reduce the amount so that $10,000 can be budgeted per year.
3) They also felt we should award some in Years 10,11,12,13 if we felt the students were doing really well.
